The MET X Maharani Afternoon Tea
A Delicious Fusion Of Cork and Kerala
The successful local Rebel City distillery based in the old Ford Factory in Cork’s Docklands, whose lead product is Maharani gin (with Indian botanicals), and Cork’s Metropole Hotel join forces to celebrate Cork on a Fork Fest with a limited edition Afternoon Tea.
Distillery co-founders Robert and Bhagya Barrett set up Rebel City Distillery in Cork in early 2020. The Maharani is copper pot distilled and includes botanicals sourced from the women’s farming cooperative in Kerala, Bhagya’s home state. Maharani (meaning high queen) is the perfect accompaniment to The MET’s Summer Berry Afternoon Tea which has been adapted to include the flavours of Maharani gin.
Guests will be welcomed to our beautiful Tea Room at The Metropole Hotel with a Maharani G&T, followed by a Maharani infused eton mess to start. This will be followed by a selection of sweet and savoury plates served with tea and coffee with an emphasis on local summer berries.
Treats will include a Raspberry and White Chocolate Mille Feuille Tartlet, a Blackberry and Chocolate Cheesecake, Freshly Baked Scones With Lemon Curd and Strawberry Preserve, Warm Ardsallagh Goat’s Cheese, Leek and Herb Tartlet and Poached Prawn and Salmon on Edward Buckley Soda Bread among other mouthwatering dishes.
