Welcoming Our New Guest Relations Manager
A warm welcome to The Metropole Hotel’s New Guest Relations Manager, Jan Mitchell
Trigon Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Jan Mitchell as The Metropole Hotel’s Guest Relations Manager. Already taking amazing strides in the role, Jan sat down with us to answer some questions about the role so far.
1. What drew you to the role of Guest Relations Manager?
Throughout my career I have always worked in a customer facing role. Because of my outgoing personality, I was immediately drawn to the role when I saw it advertised and knew it was perfect for me.
2. What are the typical day-to-day tasks as a Guest Relations Manager?
Client satisfaction is my number 1 priority every day. I aim to be the first point of contact for a guest, so much of my day is meeting & greeting. I look to create a unique welcoming experience for every guest that will live long in their memories and ensure they will never forget their stay at The Metropole Hotel. Satisfaction surveys and guest follow-up need to be done daily but in all honesty my favourite part of the day is the interaction with our guests.
3. What is the best part of your job?
Getting to create a unique experience for each guest. We at The Metropole Hotel strive to give them the best experience and see them leave happy and looking forward for to their next visit.
4. What lessons have you learned since beginning your role of Guest Relations Manager?
Every guest is different, no two experiences are alike. So while one guest may enjoy the busy bar the next guest may prefer peace & quiet. I have learnt to listen carefully and where I can tailor each experience to the guests needs.
5. What are some of your favourite attractions/activities in Cork for guests?
My top three would be a journey down to the gorgeous coastal town of Cobh to enjoy the Titanic Experience, an afternoon of sampling one of Cork’s finest produce, Jameson Whiskey at Jameson Experience in Middleton and, of course, a firm favourite with guests from all over the world, a visit to Blarney Castle. I also cannot forget that Cork is famously the foodie capital of Ireland and a lot of our guests enquire about the English Market.
6. In what way can you help guests during their stay in The Metropole Hotel?
My advice to anyone interacting with our guests is to greet them with a big welcome & smile, that first impression breaks down the barriers and from there ensure we listen to the customer and fulfil their needs. The key is to establish a relationship as early as possible within their stay so by the time they leave the do so as old friends.
7. What do you think makes The Metropole Hotel the perfect place to enjoy a break away?
Our Location, Our History and Our People….
Our hotel much like the building has amazing foundations. These enable us to deliver exceptional service in our magnificent building in of course the best city in Ireland!
